Aventon Level vs Level 2: Electrical Specs & Key Features

When it comes to electrical specs & key features, there are some notable differences between Aventon Level and Level 2.

Torque Sensor vs Cadence Sensor:

The biggest upgrade in Aventon Level 2 is definitely the Torque Sensor. The original Level 1 comes with a Cadence Sensor which relies on the number of pedals to give motor assistance to the rider.

Torque Sensor, on the other hand, feels the effort you are putting into pedaling and gives motor assistance accordingly. This results in a more responsive pedaling experience in Aventon Level 2.

We have seen the inclusion of Torque Sensors in other Aventon electric bikes released this year including Aventure 2, Sinch 2, and Pace 500.3.

Lighting:

Surprisingly, Aventon released the Level 1 commuter ebike without any sort of lighting. This is disappointing considering Aventon ebikes are not the cheapest in the market. So, if you are riding the Aventon Level commuter ebike in the dark, you’ll be in trouble.

But Aventon has listened to the feedback of its customers and released the Aventon Level 2 with integrated headlights and rear lights. The light is not big but does the job pretty well.

Aventon App:

Like other Aventon ebikes released this year, Level 2 also comes with Aventon app support. This upgrade means that you’ll be able to connect your smartphone to the ebike to tweak its settings including maximum speed settings. You can also track your rides in the app and connect with fellow riders.

Aventon Level does not support the app so you would be missing out on this feature as well. The reason is that the app is not compatible with the simple display that comes with the Aventon Level 1.

But it connects seamlessly with the Level 2 and other Aventon ebikes released in 2023. The Aventon app is available for both Android and iOS users.

Motor, Battery, Speed, and Range:

Both Aventon Level and Level 2 ebikes come with the same 500W rear hub motor that gives a peak power of up to 750W.

The battery too is similar as both commuter electric bikes come with a 14 Ah battery. The maximum range is also similar as both ebikes can power you up to 55-60 miles on the lowest pedal assist setting. On the throttle mode, you can expect 30 miles of range from both Aventon Level and Level 2.

As both Aventon Level and Level 2 are class 3 ebikes, you can go up to 28 MPH on the pedal assist. On the throttle-only mode, you can get a maximum speed of 20 MPH.

Charging:

Aventon has done a good job when it comes to charging the ebike. Both Aventon Level and Leve 2 come with a 48V, 3A fast charger which can give you a full charge in 5-6 hours.

So, that was all about electrical specs & key features in Aventon Level vs Level 2. Let’s move on to discuss the design, physical dimensions, and weight limits of these electric bikes.

Aventon Level vs Level 2: Dimensions, Design, & Weight Limits

Frame:

Aventon hasn’t changed anything when it comes to the frame design. The Aventon Level also comes in both step-over and step-through frame options.

For each frame type, you can choose between two sizes to suit your height. Aventon is one of the few ebike brands that offer more than one frame size.

As we write this Aventon Level vs Level 2 comparison, you can only get the step-over frame (small) with the Aventon Level. Aventon may update the stock at any time.

But as of now, you can get the step-through frame only in the Aventon Level 2. If you still want the step-through Level 1 ebike, you can visit any nearby Aventon dealer as Aventon has an immense presence in the US and Canada.

Color Options:

Aventon has introduced some new color options in Level 2. For the step-through frame, you can choose between Polar White and Himalayan colors. And you have the option to go for either Clay or Glacier color for the step-over frame.

Weight Limits:

Since Aventon has decided to go with the same frame in Level 2, you won’t see any difference in weight limits. Both Aventon Level and Level 2 come with a maximum payload capacity of 300 lbs.

The rear rack alone can support up to 55 lbs of load in both commuter electric bikes. Both electric bikes weigh around 62 lbs.

Aventon Level vs Level 2: Other Components

Suspension:

Aventon has still not included the suspension seat post in Level ebikes. So, you’ll get a front suspension on both electric bikes. However, the Level 2 comes with 65mm of travel when compared to the 75mm travel you get with the Level 1.

Although this is a downgrade, the 10mm difference doesn’t make the Level 2 uncomfortable by any means.

Transmission & Brakes:

As far as the transmission is concerned, Aventon has used Shimano components in both Level 1 and Level 2 ebikes. You’ll get an 8-speed rear derailleur and shifter in both electric bikes.

Both Aventon Level and Level 2 ebikes feature Tektro Hydraulic brakes with 180 mm rotors which are far better than the mechanical ones. They also need less maintenance than mechanical disc brakes.

Apart from these differences, both electric bikes feature 27.5” x 2.1” tires that are perfect for daily commutes. Both Aventon Level and Level 2 come with an included rear rack and fenders so you won’t have to spend an extra dime on these essential accessories.

Aventon Level vs Level 2: Which electric bike should you go for?
