Aventon Pace 500.3 vs 500.2: Electrical Specs & Key Features

Torque Sensor vs Cadence Sensor:

Like other Ebikes Aventon released this year, the Pace 500.3 also comes with a Torque Sensor. The Pace 500.2 has a Cadence Sensor which counts only the number of pedal rounds while giving power to the rider.

The Torque Sensor, however, also takes into account how hard you are pedaling and allocates motor power accordingly. So, the addition of the Torque Sensor to Pace 500.3 leads to a more responsive cycling experience.

Aventon has also simplified the motor assist system as the Pace 500.3 now comes with 4 modes: Eco, Tour, Sport, and Turbo. You also get the Throttle on Demand as the Pace 500.3 can now accelerate from a stop.

Range:

Along with increasing ride comfort, the torque sensor has also increased the range of Pace 500.3 as it can now take you up to 60 miles with pedal assist. That’s a 20-mile difference as the Pace 500.2 could go for a maximum of 40 miles.

Turn Signals:

Aventon has introduced turn signals with the integrated rear lights of the Pace 500.3. This safety measure was missing in the Pace 500.2 and is a good addition to the new generation. However, the position of the rear lights in the Pace 500.3 is much lower than in the previous model.

These turn signals are activated from the cockpit and automatically turn off after blinking 15 times.

Aventon Pace 500.3 comes with the same battery and motor as the previous model of the ebike. Pace 500.3 also ships as a Class 2 ebike with a top speed of 20 mph but you can convert it to a Class 3 ebike through the configuration options available in the Aventon app.

Aventon Pace 500.3 vs 500.2: Design, Dimensions & Weight Limits

There haven’t been any design changes in the new Aventon Pace 500.3. Aventon has kept all the physical aspects of the Pace 500.3 the same as the Pace 500.2. Both the cruiser electric bikes weigh 52 lbs which is pretty lightweight for an ebike with such features.

It’s the same upright cruiser electric bike frame that offers you a comfortable riding position with swept-back handlebars for extra comfort.

However, there are different color options available with the Pace 500.3 and we do like the Blue Steel color that comes with the Step-through frame. But it’s more of a subjective matter and we leave that to you.

Aventon Pace 500.3 vs 500.2: Other Components

The Aventon Pace 500.3 also doesn’t come with a rear rack or fenders like the previous model. So, you’ll have to spend a few extra bucks for those as well.

Both Aventon electric bikes come with Tektro Hydraulic Brakes and Shimano 8 Speed Derailleur. You get a rigid fork on both these ebikes with a traditional suspension system. So, the ride on a rough track isn’t the most comfortable with both these ebikes.

Aventon Pace 500.3 vs 500.2: Price

So, we come to the main confusion in your mind. Which Pace 500 model offers more value for money?

For an extra $300, you get the Torque Sensor and a 20 miles more range. If you are comfortable with the cadence sensor and not obsessed about the responsive pedaling, then Pace 500.2 isn’t a bad option either.

You can spend the extra $300 on getting accessories for Pace 500.2 including fenders($45), Kryptonite ebike lock($68), rear rack($40), and portable Air Pump ($150). Aventon is offering a free front rack (worth $55) with the Pace 500.2 as we write this comparison.

Aventon Pace 500.3 vs 500.2: Which one should you get?

So, the Aventon Pace 500.2 with all the accessories mentioned above makes a lot more sense compared to the 500.3 from an affordability point of view. If you have no budget constraints, then we recommend that you opt for the Aventon Pace 500.3.
