Segway Xyber Review: The Tesla of Electric Bikes is Here!

Segway-Ninebot has revealed the “Segway Xyber” which we consider to be the “Tesla of Ebikes” and you will agree with us after looking at this sleek and aesthetically amazing ebike: the Segway Xyber.

Segway was acquired by Ninebot in 2015 and the company has been focusing on hoverboards and self-balancing scooters since then. On the last day of the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Segway surprised ebike enthusiasts by revealing a moto-styled electric bike with a slick design only Segway could have come up with.

The Segway Xyber will compete with Talaria, Super 73, and Sur Ron in 2024 but this offroad beast from Segway is difficult to beat for any ebike manufacturer. Let’s dive into some specs now!

Segway is offering two versions of the Xyber electric bike. Both versions will come with a 750W-rated direct-drive hub motor with a peak power of 3000W. The maximum torque offered by the Segway Xyber is 175Nm which is more than enough to do wheelies as well. You can accelerate to 20mph on this Segway electric bike in just 2.5 seconds.

The standard version comes with a massive 48V 30Ah battery pack which can offer a maximum range of 48 miles. You can upgrade the battery to get a 95-mile max range on this Segway ebike. The top speed is limited to 20 mph on this version to make it compliant as a Class-2 ebike.

The offroad version features an additional battery pack and you’ll have 48V 60Ah of juice on your Xyber ebike. The top speed on the offroad version is 40 mph and the 30% extra torque offered by the battery upgrade can conquer any terrain this beast is thrown into.

The suspension on this Segway ebike is dope! You get solid front suspension forks with 120mm of travel distance. But the real suspension is the real deal as it also provides 120mm of travel. With such a cool suspension in place, you’ll feel like you are riding an SUV.

Segway has installed 20″ x 5″ super fat tires on this offroad beast and it won’t matter if you riding on a paved road or in mud. These Segway tires can handle it all. The Tektro hydraulic disc brakes with 220mm rotors will offer a smooth braking experience on this Segway electric bike.

Segway Xyber goes one step further by offering loads of smart features you only expect from Segway:

  • Air Lock
  • Motion Alert
  • GPS Tracking
  • Find My Apple
  • Navigation Support
  • Active Scene Perception
  • Charging Ports (Type A, Type C)
  • Pedal Height Adjustment
  • Twist Throttle
  • Multi-functional Color Display
  • Fitness Tracking
  • Adaptive Headlights

This is where the Segway Xyber starts getting ahead of its competitors like Super 73 and SurRon. Segway Xyber comes with a smart cockpit where you have access to all the important metrics. You can even receive call notifications here.

Navigation support, calorie tracking, adaptive headlights, twist throttle, adjustable pedals, charging ports, motion alert, and airlock are some other features worth highlighting here.

The active scene perception in Segway Xyber will adjust the bike’s response depending on the terrain. Isn’t that cool?

Segway is yet to release the price tag for this offroad sports ebike. But this ebike would be a great offer even close to $3k. Let’s wait and find out if Segway keeps the Xyber affordable as well. However, we can confidently say that this beast from Segway is going to crush the ebike market in 2024.
